The keywords of your page is basically telling the search engines what words are associated with your page. Most search engines do not record past 15 words. Also always make your city and or state part of your keywords. The reason is that a lot of people feel comfortable doing business with a company in their city or state.

Some search engines robots will actually penalize you for repeating the same word. Use your keyword in intelligent sentences. The Don'ts 

1. Don't use frames when constructing you Homepage. Search engines are looking for one page when looking up your site. When you have a frame set a search engine will see as many sites as you have frames. For example, if you have two frames on your homepage the search engine will see two websites instead of one, and you will not receive a proper listing. 
2. Don't use Refresh tags on your Homepage Refresh tags are forwarding tags that move you from one page to another. A search Engine will not be able to read your page because you are moving to another page. This does not allow the search engine to read your site, and you will not get a proper listing. 
3. Don't use Image Mapping on your Homepage. Image Mapping allows you to associate a particular area of the page with a hyperlink. These are called hotspots and cannot be read by a search engine, so you will not receive a proper listing. 
4. Don't use URL Forwarding on your Homepage. URL Forwarding is used to move from one URL to another URL. A search engine needs to have a website at the submitted URL to read. A Homepage using URL Forwarding will not receive a proper listing. You have to us a cloaking system to forward your web site to a other location. 
5. Don't have Flash Files for your Homepage. A Search Engine cannot read this type of file. A Homepage using Flash Files will not receive a proper listing. You can only use this on secondary web site . 

The Do's 

1. DO put Metatags containing Keywords and Description on your page 
Keywords: The first keyword is the major keyword, and should be the most specific with regards to your web site content. A search engine will read this keyword and relate it to the search requested by the user. However, having anymore than 15 keywords could hinder the page's listing within the search engine, and you will not receive a proper listing. 
Description: The Description is a short summary about your web site content. Search Engines read and display this Description underneath the link when your web site is found by a user search. 
2. DO have a Title that is specific with regards to your web site content. Having a Title such as , or will not list with the search engines, and you will not receive a proper listing. 
3. DO have ALT, HTML, and Link commands. These are additional tags that provide information to search engines about your web site. By providing additional information to search engine you will be able to receive a proper listing. 
4. DO have text written on your Homepage. Some search engines use this text to match the search request with your web site. If you do not have any readable text on your Homepage you will not receive a proper listing.
